Heritage Foundation hits rock bottom.

The Heritage Foundation once stood for all that was good about the conservative movement. It always stuck me as a good place to start if I wanted to learn about some public issue. Nowadays I toss their mailers in the trash unopened. This view of Heritage was reinforced this evening by this description of President Assad of Syria by James Carafano of Heritage on 4/2/18:
Assad is a bad, genocidal dictator.
Yup. He said that on Tucker Carlson's show on Fox News. Right up there in accuracy and stupidity with Ralph Peter's observation that Putin's a "thug" and a "racist." And straight out of the daycare center at the U.S. Department of State.

Any killing that’s taken place in Syria isn’t because of something “genocidal” on the part of Mr. al-Assad and his government. Not one of the 400,000+ civilian and many thousands of government troop deaths in Syria is due to Assad’s plan to eliminate anyone. Those deaths have all occurred because Britain, France, Germany, Norway, Australia, the U.S., Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the U.A.R. and many others (plus tens of thousands of foreign jihadi nutjobs and criminals we have trained and supported) have waged aggressive war against the sovereign nation of Syria.

I see the "problem" as the idea that there's a GOOD SOLUTION.

There isn't.

Assad is a monster. Compared to what, ISIS? At least Assad is controllable because - if nothing else - he values his own hide. You cannot control someone, e.g., ISIS / Al Qaeda, whose motivation is the reward they get in the afterlife for triggering Armageddon.
